The team behind Westport Sea2Summit & Westport Marathon are delighted to bring you our NEW Westport Hiking Festival.
Explore the thrills of hiking Mayo’s stunning unspoilt landscape with our expert hike leaders.
Choose one of exciting expertly mapped hiking options with the knowledge that a truly unforgettable experience awaits.
The 3 events are open to hikers at all levels of hiking experience. We newbies and those who fancy a bit of a challenge and a great few days out in the most beautiful part of the West of Ireland!
Choose one of the following events:
Beginners, Intermediate & Advanced which includes:
• Welcome reception Friday night
• Bus transfers & guided hike with experienced mountain leader
• Four Course Meal Saturday
Festival Programme:
Friday:
8pm – Meet & mingle! Kick off the weekend with a welcome reception
Saturday:
From 7am Buses depart from The Castlecourt Hotel to take you to your hike.
4-7 hours Embark on a 4-7 hour hike through Mayo’s unmatched landscape, guided by qualified and accredited mountain leaders.
2.30pm – 3.30 pm Warm up with a welcome back hot port & hot whiskey reception at the Castlecourt Hotel.
4pm – 8pm Enjoy free time to explore the charming town of Westport. Whether you want to shop, relax at the Leisure Centre or treat yourself to a spa treatment, the choice is yours.
8pm Cap off the day with a delicious 4-course meal alongside your fellow hikers, followed by live entertainment!
Sunday:
Why not escape to Spa Sula or Spa Veda before you return home.

Choose from 3 Events: Beginners, Intermediate & Advanced. This is a online Registration Event. All registration details will be emailed the evening before but we recommend you attend our Friday night welcome night!

Intermediate Route 🥾🥾
A very unique Croagh Patrick experience, starting at the Louisburg side of the reek, you are treated to the lesser walked path up the holy mountain. Weather permitting a walker will get those beautiful Clew Bay views. Once on top of Croagh Patrick, it’s all downhill to the Quay where you`re treated to some lovely Atlantic views reaching the Westport Coast Hotel at the end. Book your spot today! Link in bio 👆

We are delighted to introduce Mike Quinn, Expert Westport Hiking Festival Leader!
Mike Quinn, a native of Westport, County Mayo, is an avid hiker and hillwalker who has a strong passion for nature and outdoors.
His love of trekking has brought him on travels around Ireland and many other countries throughout the world.
Mike is an experienced hiker who has accomplished the following:
• All-Ireland Hillwalking Champion 2022:
• Gold Medal with Mayo teammates.
• Won the Mountaineer of the Year award.
• 15 Years of Hiking Experience: Extensive hiking experience across Ireland and internationally.
• Charity Walk: In 2018, completed a 1000km hike from the bottom to the top of Ireland, raising over €11,000 for two charities.
• Adventure Award: Received an adventure award for the 2018 charity hike.
Through his social media channels, Mountain Mikes Adventures , he shares the breath-taking beauty of Ireland’s mountains and hills, all while keeping a light-hearted and fun approach.
His experience and love for the mountains make him an ideal guide for the Westport Hiking Festival, and looks forward to helping you Explore the thrills of hiking Mayo’s stunning unspoilt landscape accompanied by a team of experts.

🥾Advanced Route - Mweelrea 🥾
Mweelrea mountain is the highest point in Mayo and in the province of Connacht.
It consists of five peaks flanked on one side by Killary Harbour. There are magnificent views from the top including the Atlantic Ocean, Ben Gorm Mountains, the Twelve Bens in Connemara, the Maumturks, and the Sheeffry Hills.
